The above quote has resonated with me for about 5 years now. I think it is true in a world sense and a personal sense. I believe it encompasses the idea of thinking globally, acting locally. What I have found to be true in my career so far is that the actions and the influences of small but significant groups of people effect your whole creative journey, and how you’re capable of giving back to the world. I am a human centred designer, I consider empathy to be the driving force behind my design practise. I understand empathy to be the capacity to step into other people’s shoes, to understand their lives, and start to solve problems from their perspectives. The idea of arriving at new solutions through getting to know different people, scenarios and places excites me. Below is an overview of how I interpret the human centred design process. During a 4 month internship with Our Very Own consultancy I have gained and expanded on the skills and strengths listed below.
